The Staves @ The Kazimier, Liverpool

It was all but four months ago that The Staves made RLF’s top sounds to watch for 2012, so having the opportunity to see them in action last night was in every sense of the word unforgettable.  Having stumbled upon these sisters back in 2009 whilst one of the Staves (Jessica) studied in Liverpool, I have since had the pleasure of watching them grow from humble music students, playing small venues around the city, to beautiful (graduated) musicians headlining their own national tour. Their chemistry is one that can only be found through blood, and their stage presence delivered by pure unadulterated talent. Each song was sung with such delicacy, and so effortlessly performed. Those in between moments filled with such bashful coyness. It was impossible not to admire these sisters just that little more – “Hitler Banter” aside. There is no doubt in my mind, or the minds of any of last night’s audience that The Staves will soon become an internationally recognized British talent (They even have Fearne Cotton spitting out a tune of theirs on Radio 1 at the moment), but for now, The Staves remain our little secret.
